The National Ovarian Cancer Network is the only specific gynaecological cancer consumer group in Australia. Its purpose is to increase the awareness of ovarian cancer to women and healthcare professionals and provide resources to women and their networks affected by ovarian cancer. The aim of 'Healthy Hearts - Beyond City Limits' project is to reach vulnerable communities in regional Victoria to prevent cardiovascular disease, including having a fatal heart attack or stroke, by improving the management of risk in the community. This is a collaborative project between the Baker Heart Research Institute, the Rotary Club of Melbourne and participating Rotary Clubs of Victoria. The aim of this community program is to help people to reduce their risk of getting heart disease. The Foundations support enables a mobile, advanced risk assessment service to "at risk" and under-serviced communities in Victoria. Medical and research staff offer an important service to the community by, assessing risk factors for heart disease, promoting heart health awareness and making a lasting and sustainable impact on the heart health of target communities.www.baker.edu.au |
